Starting a new website, does anyone know of some free/cheap good web hosts?

So I have been thinking about starting my own website, but I have absolutely NO experience..... I have been looking around for some web hosts that has a website builder and where I can put up a forum, that sort of thing.... the problem is, since I am new at this, I don%26#039;t want to go and just empty out my pockets just yet.... If there is anything FREE out there that provides this kinda service (I don%26#039;t mind having to purchase a domain name), that would be absolutely great (AND DEFINETLY THE BEST ANSWER!), if not, then, a cheap one that would be the second best choice.... anyone knows of any? thanks!

I have about 3 websites up on google, you have to have a free google email address with them, but they is all entirely free, I really like them you can also store stuff there for people to download. Its great. It is all free there are no fee%26#039;s and no hosting fee%26#039;s all done for you. Try it out, if not interested in that maybe you can get back to me I can help you with a solution to your problem. So go look at google pages first if you like. Another I use is bigpixie.com that is not free but has a small monthly fee. Hope thats helpful

Reply:Hi,

When choosing a web host it%26#039;s of course important to consider the cost (some hosting can be very expensive) but here are some other important things you should take into consideration too:

Web Hosting Space: Some web hosts will only give you 500MB or so of space. This could be a concern if you are looking at creating large websites.

Bandwidth: Some web hosts will severely limit the bandwidth you can use before you incur extra charges.

Uptime: There%26#039;s no point in having a website if people can%26#039;t see it. Does your web host offer at least a 99% uptime guarantee?

Number of websites allowed: If you%26#039;re looking to host more than one website on your account, will your web host charge you more to do this?

Support: If you have any problems you need to be able to contact your web host quickly and easily to get the problem sorted.

I have used Hostgator as my web host for over two years now and have been very very impressed with them. Firstly they%26#039;re very cheap but still give me more web hosting space and bandwidth than I%26#039;ll ever need, the ability to host unlimited websites, a 99.9% uptime guarantee and great customer support. You can find them at http://www.webhostgator.info

ps They%26#039;ve also got a great free website builder that%26#039;s perfect for anyone with no experience.

Reply:For beginners, why not stick with Godaddy? They have a TON of online tutorials that make it easy for a new webmaster. Check the articles at http://directorix.net/articles.html where you%26#039;re given the basics for great looking web publishing. You don%26#039;t have to know a whole lot of programming, either. If you are worried about the cost of hosting, you can always sign up for google adsense and offset the cost of hosting monthly.

Reply:If you would like to start out with something free and build a forum where you are the moderator. I would suggest that you take a look at Yahoo Groups. http://groups.yahoo.com/

When you want to get serious about building a new website, I would suggest that you take a look at several hosting options. There are a few great hosts out there that help the beginner by offering training, assistance, tools and analyzing for best performance. Compare many hosts side-by-side. First comparing feature-by-feature then dollar-for-dollar. Using this process will ensure that you find the best match for your needs and the most value for your money. If you would like a great example through the web host I use, you can use them as one of your own comparisons. http://find.sitesell.com/UnstoppableDrea...

BEST WISHES!
Reply:I%26#039;d suggest http://www.000WEBH0ST.com as a free host. They have Cpanel in their free account, as well as MYSQL, and PHP. If you are just learning, this will come in very handy.
